At least four terrorists were killed in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Jammu’s Sidhra area in the early hours of Wednesday. Police gave this information. Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Zone Mukesh Singh said that the encounter started at around 7.30 am in dense fog near Tawi bridge in Sidhra bypass area near Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
The ADGP told reporters at the site of the encounter, “A truck going towards Kashmir was chased and stopped near Sidhra Naka after it appeared suspicious. Then its driver fled on the pretext of going to the toilet.
Singh told that the police was just starting to search the truck when the firing started from inside. The truck caught fire during the encounter. It is believed that there were only 4 terrorists who were killed. 7 AK-47 rifles, 3 pistols and other ammunition have been recovered. The truck owner has not been identified yet. Search still on.
The ADGP said, “Things will be clear only after the search of the truck is complete. From where the terrorists entered the city, it is also being ascertained. He said the militants were heavily armed and headed towards Kashmir when they were intercepted. The search for the truck driver continues.
